Contois Reynolds Stained Glass Demonstration Continued...

The rough glass edges are ground smooth using a rotating diamond dust wheel suspended in water (to capture silicon dust).
Some glass is then hand-painted and kiln-fired for special textural surface effects.
Each glass piece is carefully wrapped with copperfoil, a metallic tape with an adhesive backing, which sticks to the edges of the glass. |
All the glass pieces that make up the cut & ground pattern are fully laid out and soldered. The solder bonds to the copperfoil and the copperfoil bonds to the glass, so the mirror is securely held together.
